Presentation of Letters of Credence to Japan

 

H.E. Kwacha Chisiza, Ambassador of Malawi to Japan presented his letters of Credence to His Majesty Naruhito, Emperor of Japan, at the Imperial Palace, on 9th February, 2022.

During the ceremony, Ambassador Kwacha Chisiza conveyed to the Emperor greetings from His Excellency Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi. In response, His Majesty the Emperor expressed gratitude and conveyed best wishes for the health and well-being of His Excellency President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera.

H.M. the Emperor and Ambassador Kwacha Chisiza discussed the COVID-19 situations in Japan and Malawi, noting the challenges posed by the pandemic worldwide.

H.M. the Emperor expressed deep appreciation to the people of Malawi. He indicated that Malawi was the largest recipient of the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV) worldwide demonstrating the cordial relations that exist between the two countries.

In response, Ambassador Kwacha Chisiza expressed gratitude for the JOCV, acknowledging that the volunteers were making immense contribution to the socio-economic development of the Republic of Malawi. Ambassador Chisiza thanked the Government of Japan for the grant aid and technical assistance provided to Malawi, and further appreciated Japan’s provision of COVID-19 vaccines under the COVAX facility and medical equipment in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

His Excellency the Ambassador affirmed his commitment to further strengthen the bilateral relations existing between Japan and Malawi.

Hon. NISHIME Kosaburo, Minister of Reconstruction, was present during the ceremony, as Minister in attendance.
